26/4/2020, · My vote (ratchet) might not be worth much because I've only ever owned the one kind of ,helmet,, though I've used ,d,-,rings, on various borrowed ,helmets, over the years. I don't find ,D,-,rings, particularly difficult to use - the simple elegance of the mechanism is quite appealing. But: Ratchet's quicker to release and can be operated with gloves on.
